Down on the farm

Start of ours hols on a farm in Devon. Lots of baby animals; lambs, rabbits, calves, piglets and kittens. And there is a canal in Tiverton, well I never.

Charmouth

What a lovely place. Site just by the beach and a glorious day. Swim in the sea and sandcastle building. Maia however was absolutely terrified of sand. Very strange.

Brianne

Another reservoir today. Amazing scenery and a cracking road round it in the hills. Eve did some more cycling on her own on a bumpy forest track. Mean I know.

Bike

Eve learnt to ride her bike today! About 5 mins after we got the stabilisers off she was pinging round the field. Amazing.

Usk

Technical difficulties have delayed posts but back up now. Sunday roast and a cycle around Usk reservoir. Strange thing was that it was uphill the entire way.

Erwlon

Raining? Check. Time to get the caravan out then. Welcome to the Brecon Beacons. And loo of the year apparently.

Lulworth

Lulworth is great for seeing nature in action. Millions of years of history before your eyes.

Longthorns

All fine and now relaxing near Bere Regis. I can just about hear a monkey. Nice informal farm campsite with possibly the worst loo I've encountered.

The season opener

It's that time of year again, the sun is pushing through the clouds and its bank holiday weekend.  Let's see if we can get it out after 6 months.

On tour again!

Well we managed a week at home before we were off again. Down to Devon for the weekend near Budleigh Salterton. Day on the beach at Sidmouth (nice place) with some very soft cliffs. You can literally break the rocks apart with your hands! Good for patterns made by waves though.

Scooting update

I wasn't able to post video on the road so here is Eve getting the hang of scooting. Thank you to Suz.

And thats it

Home now. Large pile of stuff that needs sorting out but otherwise done. 2600 miles to see a lot of the country i hadn't seen before and it was well worth it. Things we've learnt? I should not look to a job in travel writing. You dont need to take a vegatable steamer on a caravan holiday. Dont try and scoot on wet concrete on a childs scooter. Its been a adventure but everyone should try it. We live in a beautiful country. Get out there and see it.

Wales

It would seem rude to do this trip and leave out Wales so today we reach Monmouth. 6.5 hour drive so only time for a quick stroll, one scooter accident (me) and an anniversary curry. almost home.

lake not loch

Back in England now in the lake district just by Ullswater. Trip round the lake in a boat. Eve got to liking it by the end. Maia did not. Scooting down the hill at the campsite is fun (well me and julia think so) though eve hasn't tried it yet. And it didn't rain today!!!!!

fell walking with children

headed out for a walk today. decided to off path on the way back to get the view from the hill next to the campsite. Eve didn't completely appreciate the long grass, boggy ground, ascents, descents, sheep, sheep poo etc. but she does well for 4. Nearing the end of our trip now. boo.

tides

the scenery round here is truly amazing. lazy morning and a walk this afternoon. the local brewery is only a few miles away so sampling some of that with date and walnut cake. the tide on the loch is great through the narrows by the campsite, really fast with the odd whirlpool. Strange seeing seaweed in a mountain river.

rainy days

Galloway today near castle douglas. Rain and rain. The loch (ken) has burst its banks so most of the play park is now a paddling pool. Eve painted a hedgehog. No signal so dont know when this will make it out.

Loch Leven

Started the journey south today, first stop Glencoe right on Loch Leven. The scenary is magnificent as is the view from the camp site. The weather is dramatic as well though im not sure the 'van is supposed to sink that far in the mud. No beer tonight, twitch.

John O Groats!

Success, made it here. Not much here apart from gift shops so much better places to see are Duncansby stacks and Dunnet head which is the most northerly point of the mainland. Great views, clear enough to see the Orkneys. You definetly experience the weather in Scotland, mostly because you can see it (i know what i mean). quick beach visit for kite flying before another cream tea. I wouldn't call this a healthy holiday.
